Despite suspensions Heroic keep HUNDEN on as coach; Starix to continue with Hard Legion
Heroic and Hard Legion have joined the list of teams choosing to keep on coaches found guilty of utilizing the coaching bug exploit. Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen and Sergey “starix” Ischuk were both listed as part of the findings of the Esports Integrity Commission’s investigation.
One of the original coaches banned when this scandal came into the light, HUNDEN has since had his 12-month suspension reduced to eight after he helped the ESIC in their investigation.
“As earlier mentioned, Nicolai’s mistake does not reflect the values or standards Heroic holds or wants to promote, but a mistake is a mistake. We all make them. After all, Hunden is our boy,” Heroic’s CEO Erik Askered said in a statement. “We love him and he has so much to give this sport, that losing him would neither benefit Heroic, himself, or the pro scene. Our focus will now be to maintain the ranking we have fought hard for, and continue proving the world how good we are.”
Hard Legion took a similar approach and will keep working with Starix in the full capacity of his role following his suspension and will until then not utilize him during official matches.
Other teams & coaches that have appealed the claims or stood by their coach include OG, forZe, Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström (ex-FaZe), and Alessandro “Apoka” Marcucci (BOOM).
