Elephant take down PSG.LGD as they become champions of OGA Dota PIT Season 4
OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China had reached its final day with
only one series left to be played – the best-of-five grand final between
Elephant and PSG.LGD.
So far at the event, LGD and Elephant had faced off twice;
once in the group stage and again in the upper bracket final. Both of these
series ended swiftly with LGD dominating their opponent and securing flawless
victories. However, after Elephant secured a lower bracket victory over EHOME
yesterday, they would be hoping to gain some revenge and possibly take down LGD
in the same in which they did at the China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 2.
While LGD had been playing very fast-paced lineups
throughout their series against Elephant at the OGA Dota PIT Season 4, they
opened the series with some picks which were far slower – and one which we’ve
seen many times from them before. With Wang “Ame” Chunyu on a Naga Siren and
Zhao “XinQ” Zixing on Techies, LGD managed to build a huge lead in the near
hour-long game and eventually force the GG call. However, game two was a far
better showing from Elephant, especially Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun’s Terrorblade –
which was afforded complete free-farm and ended the game 14-0-8 and with a double-RAMPAGE
to tie the series.
While LGD begun the third game in a fantastic manner, everything changed just after the 15-minute mark when it was Xu “fy” Linsen who showed off his Rubick skills to claim a triple kill and push everything in Elephant’s favour. Four years to the day after Monkey King was released, Elephant utilised it perfectly to take the series lead as they went 2-1 up.
Only needing one more victory to secure the championship, Elephant seemed extremely strong going into the fourth game of the series. As they picked up the Drow Ranger for Eurus, the team played at a pace which LGD seemed unable to keep up with as they controlled the map, finding constant pickoffs. Unstoppable and relentless, Elephant gave LGD no room to breath as they dominated every game after the first.
It did not take too long for Elephant to get their revenge as they claimed a 3-1 grand final victory at the OGA Dota PIT Season 4: China – winning their second event since their creation.
