ESL and DreamHack Close Three-Year Broadcast Partnership in Brazil
Esports company ESL and gaming festival DreamHack announced a three-year partnership with Globo, a mass communication group in Brazil, and Omelete Company, one of the largest entertainment platforms in the country, for the broadcast rights for the ESL Pro Tour for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), ESL Pro League, ESL One, Intel Extreme Masters, DreamHack Masters, and DreamHack Open.
The deal aims to offer the Brazilian audience broadcasts in Portuguese by Globo’s pay-TV channel SporTV3, and by Omelete, who acquired all online distribution rights. The partnership also involves professional streamer Alexandre “Gaules” Borba, recently signed by Omelete, who will be responsible for promoting and broadcasting the competitions. All matches, including qualifiers, will be streamed through Gaules’ Twitch channel and also covered in the show Gaules TV featuring the Brazilian streamer.
Globo and Omelete have also acquired rights to promote additional marketing initiatives via social media and by organizing remote fan fests for locals to enjoy select tournaments collectively. Omelete was born on the internet and has become one of the main entertainment companies in Brazil. Globo is one of the more traditional communication groups in the country, and is the largest broadcaster in Latin America, reaching more than 100M people daily through its linear and digital channels.
