Evil Geniuses begin their European OMEGA League journey with an amazing performance
Normally part of the North American circuit, Evil Geniuses were now participating in their first ever European event, OMEGA League: Europe Immortal Division with their first series being up against 5men.
After we witnessed the 5men squad take down Natus Vincere in
their first series yesterday, it was possible that they would give EG a bit of
a tough time today especially since EG were missing their mid-lane player Abed ‘Abed’
Azel Yussop – requiring a stand-in, which came in the form of Danil ‘gpk’
Skutin. But that was far from what occurred as EG managed to completely
dominate the 5men lineup over two games. Game one would see a Naga Siren drafted
for Artour ‘Arteezy’ Babaev, which proved far too much for their opponents to
deal with as they rolled over their opponent in a little over half an hour.
The brutality did not end there though as EG turned the pressure up even more in the next game, as they proceeded to do the same thing once again. While 5men did put up a far better fight this time, their singular team fight win was far too little far too late as they had no option but to concede the series to EG. For EG, this gives them a great start to the OMEGA League: EU Immortal Division event, with their next series being up against Team Nigma on Thursday, August 20th.
5men, although having a splendid start themselves, will have
to dig deep for their next series which is also against Team Nigma, on Friday,
August 21st. At the time of writing, Nigma will be about to go into
their opening series at the event – playing Alliance who they had recently triumphed
over at the OGA Dota PIT Season 2: EU/CIS event.
