Gen.G, Seoul Dynasty to donate March homestand earnings to coronavirus charities

Gen.G and their OWL brand vertical Seoul Dynasty will donate all their earnings from from March homestand games, in-game skin sales and merch sales from now till end of March to various coroniavirus charities, Arnold Hur, Gen.G COO, announced Wednesday.

“We know this is very small compared to how big of a problem this is and we thought that this can also be at least a unique opportunity for us to come together as a community to support those most affected by the virus,” Hur said.

The coronavirus epidemic has affected several esports initiatives. In the OWL, the Shanghai Dragons and Guangzhou Charge moved their training facilities to South Korea and the league cancelled several homestand games in the name of safety. In League of Legends, China’s LPL league is on indefinite hiatus since January and only today did it announce that it will host online scrim league to give fans at least some content. In Korea, the LCK has been playing with no audience to minimize health risks.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 75,000 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed, 74,000 of which in China. While the spread of the virus has slowed down, the oubreak is still serious in the Hubei province and its capital city of Wuhan.
