High School Esports League Releases Its Fall Majors Schedule
The Fall Majors have begun in the High School Esports League.
In a sign that things are getting better at America’s high schools, the High School Esports League is a thing. No longer are nerds bullied for their love of video games, and instead, their skill and game acumen are applauded by their fellow students in live-streamed broadcasts.
And if not, at least they get a scholarship for winning.
Founded in 2013, the High School Esports League is the first stop for high schoolers looking to break into the professional esports scene. The HSEL Fall Open recently wrapped up and that means it’s time for high school esports clubs to compete for in the Fall Majors for a total prize pool of $30,000 in scholarships.
The HSEL just released its Fall Majors schedule, which will see teams from across North America compete in 11 different games including Overwatch, Minecraft, NBA 2k20, Rainbow Six: Siege, Smash Ultimate, Rocket League, CS:GO, Hearthstone, Fortnite, Madden 20, and Smite. Games are broadcast over on Twitch.tv/VarsityNetwork so you can cheer on your home team from the comfort of your own home.
The quarter-finals run from December 9th to the 13th, with the semi-finals going through December 14th and 15th. The grand finals run from December 16th to December 20th. You can check out the full schedule below.

The 30 champions of the Fall Majors will take home a $1,000 college scholarship, while top participants get a 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
Registration is also just starting for the HSEL Winter Open, which runs from January 20th to the end of February. Registration is open to all high school students in North America even if their school isn’t partnered with the HSEL. Winners get a $500 scholarship, with participants who play 4/6 matches get a 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
