Mastercard Thanks Fans With Worlds 2020 Activations, Giveaways
Mastercard announced Thursday a number of activations, giveaways, and activities tied to the 10th anniversary of the League of Legends World Championship.
As it was last year, Mastercard will serve as the presenting sponsor of the opening ceremony, delivering a broadcast spot in English and Mandarin, and debut a content series called the “Digital Priceless Experiences” featuring players, streamers, and on-air talent. In addition, Mastercard will release in limited quantities a special capsule collection created with Riot Games and gaming lifestyle brand CLOAK featuring in-game digital goods known as Riot Points (RP).
The Digital Priceless Experiences will launch on Priceless.com starting Oct. 31, at 6 a.m. EST / 6 p.m. CST (Shanghai time), with new “experiences” released every hour for 10 hours. Access to this will be available via RSVP on a first-come, first-served basis, and will include workshops, meet-and-greets, and more.
The capsule collection on Priceless.com will be released at around the same time as the “experiences,” and will feature a “signature cloak, long sleeve t-shirt, duffel bag, and puzzle,” with each item selling for $10 USD. For the first 10 hours, Mastercard will also distribute a limited amount of 1,380 RP bundles per hour on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Mastercard became the first global sponsor of League of Legends Esports in 2018 when it signed a multi-year partnership with Riot Games.
The final chapter of Worlds 2020 will take place over the coming weekend in Shanghai as LCK team DAMWON Gaming faces off against LPL team Suning Gaming.
