SoNNeikO teases his return to the competitive scene
A month after he was unexpectedly removed from Ninjas in Pyjamas, Akbar “SoNNeikO” Butaev gives to his fans a small hint on his near future plans.
Reportedly, NiP ended SoNNeikO’s stay with the team without consulting with the players, which made the decision to be received by the community as a rather odd one. During the three-month tenure under the NiP banner, SoNNeikO led the team through several online regional tournaments but hasn’t matched the performance he and the squad had prior to joining the organization. A few weeks after his removal, NiP briefly touched on the subject when they officially announced Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen to stand in for the OGA Dota PIT Online: Season 2 event.
“ A string of disappointing results and rumbles of a mini-shuffle in the making,” cited Ninjas in Pyjamas as main reasons for their decision, adding that they are looking to take a different approach in regards to the captain role. “We believe in a more flat structure, and thus have chosen to make some changes,” NiP said.
While the organization is now building towards a different model, SoNNeiKo is also ready to move on and to reignite his passion for the game with a new group of players.
In an Instagram story from yesterday, August 1st, the CIS captain announced that he will be back to the competitive scene next month.
September is already shaping as the month that will bring plenty of new rosters with both the Chinese and SEA regions already entering a shuffle window. With many of the player’s contracts coming to a close around the end of August, it won’t be surprising to see a few big moves happening in CIS, Europe, North and South America as well. So, stay tuned, August might be hot, even without The International!
