The MTA Gaming Tournament is a go for 2020 – Daily Esports

Each year, MTA Solutions sponsors the biggest esports competition in the state of Alaska: the aptly named MTA Gaming Tournament. With the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization wasn’t sure if the show would go on for 2020, but it most certainly will. The giant Alaskan tournament will run from November 6 through November 8, and since it will all be done virtually this year, anyone can participate.

In fact, registrations for the tournament are still open for all skill levels. Registration will officially close on November 5 at 2:59 AM CT. At the time of this writing, 87 participants/teams have already registered. The best part about this registration is that it’s absolutely free.

Players for three different esports will participate, the games being Valorant, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Tekken 7. However, SSBU will have three different registration brackets: Youth, a Full Bracket (not youth), and a bracket strictly for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD). If you plan on registering for the Smash portion of the tournament, make sure you register for the correct one!

MTA Gaming Tournament 2020 Prize Pool

Despite this tournament being free, there is still a nice little prize pool to divide between the teams. However, the Youth and MSBSD brackets for Smash are not a part of the prize pool. Their prizes will be announced closer to the date of the tournament.

The prizes are as follows:

Valorant (per team)
1st Place: $500
2nd Place: 100
3rd Place: $50

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Full Bracket)
1st Place: $250
2nd Place: 100
3rd Place: $50

Tekken 7
1st Place: $250
2nd Place: 100
3rd Place: $50

There will also be randomly drawn prize packages given away throughout the weekend. If that wasn’t enough, the first 100 players to register for MTA Gaming Tournament 2020 will automatically be entered to win a RESPAWN Gaming Mouse Pad Table, retailed at $324.99.

The fun in Alaska begins on Friday, November 6 with Valorant 5v5 teams. All three Smash brackets will take place on November 7, with Tekken 7 wrapping it all up on November 8. Start times have not been announced yet, but they should be known by November 5 after registrations close.
