Virtus.pro introduce a secondary Dota 2 team, VP.Prodigy

One of the top CIS organizations, Virtus.pro are looking forward to the future generations of Dota 2 professional players and launch a varsity team where they want to nurture and develop the young talents of the CIS region.

According to Sergey Glamazda, Virtus.pro General Manager, the idea behind such an initiative is “fairly simple: the second lineup allows young players to attain professional scene experience and knowledge without the enormous pressure of instant result expectation.” “The club has acquired players that might join the main roster later – or even replace it completely in the long run,” he added in the official VP announcement.

For now, the VP.Prodigy line-up features both Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko and Vitaly “Save-” Melnik who at the beginning of the current competitive season were recruited straight to the main team. they’ve been scouted in the public matchmaking and proved that both have incredible raw talent, but the lack of competitive experience proved detrimental for the whole team.

Joining epileptick1d and Save- at VP.Prodigy is Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin who most recently played with Chaos Esports and placed second at the Summit 11 Minor, and Albert “yume” Garayev who for the past three years has had short stints with various CIS teams including, M19, Gambit Esports, Team Empire and the recently disbanded Team Singularity.

VP.Prodigy are yet to decide on who will join for the mid lane role in the long run. Until they settle for a youngster, they will be playing with Rostislav “fn” Lozovoi standing in.

VP.Prodigy line-up:

  • Egor “epileptick1d” Grigorenko
  • Rostislav “fn” Lozovoy (stand-in)
  • Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
  • Vitaly “Save-” Melnik
  • Albert “yume” Garaev

The team will make its debut today, April 1 at 17:00 CEST in the StayHome Challenge with a best-of-three series against B8.
