Fruit Ninja studio’s first game in three years comes from a game jam, too

Halfbrick Studios, makers of Jetpack Joyride, Fruit Ninja, and other hits will publish its first game in three years next month. It’s called Magic Brick Wars and it’s a multiplayer, deck-building strategy game.

Magic Brick Wars features the Raskulls characters from their eponymous 2010 Xbox Live Arcade game. A news release said the new title grew out of a week-long internal game jam, somewhat the same process that created Fruit Ninja.

In Magic Brick Wars, players form their offensive and defensive strategy, build up a deck according to those tendencies, and deploy magical bricks either as countermeasures or traps. The Raskulls’ individual personalities and specialties also come into play as unique, powerful cards in the game. Barry Steakfries, the jut-jawed hero from Jetpack Joyride, also cameos (as he has in other Halfbrick joints).

Magic Brick Wars is a free-to-play game for iOS and Android devices and will be available Nov. 15.
