Pokémon Go is getting an evolution-themed event, featuring Shiny Burmy
Pokémon Go will have its first Evolution Event starting on Dec. 5 at 4 p.m. ET.
The event will feature Pokémon like Onix, Eevee, Roselia, and Burmy spawning more frequently in the wild and in raids. Pokémon with “unique evolutions” like Lickitung, Scyther, Togetic, and Ralts will also join raids. Tyrogue, Feebas, Burmy, and Happiny will also hatch out of two kilometer eggs more often.
There will also be event Field Research that rewards evolution items, which is arguably the most important thing to happen during this event. If you need Sinnoh or Unova Stones to evolve your Pokémon, completing tasks give these stones as a reward will be crucial. Evolution items will also be given as rewards from raids, so it’s worth spamming them if you have spare passes.
XP gained by evolving Pokémon will also be doubled, and Lure Modules will last one hour instead of the usual 30 minutes.
Burmy will also be spawning in the wild Shiny for the first time. If you can’t notice the difference in Shiny forms of the Burmy and Wormadam, their bug bodies are slightly more blue.

On Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in your local time, the Kanto starter Pokémon and their evolutions will be spawning in raids and up to five additional Raid Passes will be given out to players. If you still don’t have a Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise, this is a good chance to grab them.
The whole event ends on Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. ET.
