Among Us Becomes A Battle Arena Fighting Game

The popular multiplayer social deduction game by developer Innersloth, Among Us, recently became a battle arena fighting game, courtesy of a highly dedicated fan. The spin-off in question, Among Us Arena Ultimate, is currently available for download on the digital distribution platform Itch. The game is being offered free of charge. Among Us was first released back in 2018 to rave reviews before being ported to current generation consoles in 2020 and 2021.

“This is a fan game and not affiliated with Innersloth, and the content contained therein is not endorsed or otherwise sponsored by Innersloth,” the official description reads. “The ultimate Among Us arena experience has arrived! Hosting a ton of new features that'll make this look like a brand new game compared to the original release!”

The person behind Among Us Arena Ultimate is known on Twitter by the pseudonym Starcutter. “If you like this game, please consider donating to support the real fighting game that my team and I are currently working on,” Starcutter notes. “Make sure you also support the developers over at Innersloth!”

Among Us Arena Ultimate has been received on the whole, but the game still remains beset with a few bugs. “I like the game, but the AI could use some work because it literally cheats,” a commenter by the name of CommanderDemon said on Itch. “I felt the AI got a lot more Super Meter than I did since they used Supers a lot despite getting absolutely destroyed, they used Bursts the moment I hit them, and they got counters despite getting hit after they flashed.”

The inspiration for the game, Among Us, has been described by Innersloth as “an online and local party game of teamwork and betrayal for 4-15 players…in space!” Players must attempt to prepare their “spaceship for departure, but beware as one or more random players among the crew are Impostors bent on killing everyone!”
