Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Celebrates Its Best Month Ever, Raking in $7.9 Million In April

We don’t have to know what $7.9 million translates into in Bells to know that Tom Nook’s probably salivating at the prospect of all that money. Congratulations, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp!

With the barnstorming success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons (now one of the fastest-selling Nintendo games of all time), it’s no surprise that many players revelling in their island lives are first-timers. Perhaps they got their first taste of the franchise with the mobile title, Pocket Camp, or perhaps they’ve been tempted into downloading it after falling in love with the Switch game. Either way, it’s meant big numbers for both titles.

Pocket Camp has been doing the rounds since 2017 and has performed solidly since, on the strength of the IP (as with the likes of Mario Kart Tour). All in all, Nintendo have had a bit of a bumpy ride since they hopped on the mobile gaming bandwagon, but there’s no denying that it’s proved lucrative for them. Just look how Pocket Camp performed in April!

As reported by Nintendo Soup, the app hit $150 million in lifetime player spending last month. That’s a huge deal in and of itself, but just shy of $8 million of this was made in April, the game’s most successful month ever. Clearly, Nintendo have New Horizons to thank for this: the report goes on to show that, in the week after the Switch title’s release, Pocket Camp’s downloads increased by 229% and in-app spending rose by 106% in the same period!

If you still haven’t got your hands on those exclusive items for New Horizons from pairing with the mobile game, where have you been?
