Battlefield 6 leaker claims day to night and dynamic weather cycles
Battlefield’s most reliable leaker has shared more details about this year’s new game, such as a day/night cycle and dynamic weather.
Another week, another Battlefield leak. While fans probably don’t have much longer to wait for EA to actually announce this year’s entry (unofficially referred to as Battlefield 6), insider Tom Henderson has shared a bunch of information ahead of it.
Henderson recently held an hour and a half long livestream to discuss the leaks, with the information he shared handily compiled on Reddit. Some of it was things he’d already claimed before, like the return of levolution, but there were some interesting new titbits as well.
Firstly, all maps will have a day/night cycle, meaning it’s possible for a match to begin in daylight and transition to night-time, which could lead to players needing to adapt and alter strategies on the fly.
Secondly, there will be a dynamic weather cycle as well. Henderson even describes the reveal trailer, saying that it starts off with sunny weather and ends with rain, which sounds like a demonstration of the cycle in action.
Assuming his info is accurate, features like this would certainly help Battlefield differentiate itself from the current Call Of Duty games, aka its main competition.
Speaking of Call Of Duty, Battlefield apparently won’t have the same kind of skill-based matchmaking used for online play. This could be good news for those who dislike how matchmaking works in the Call Of Duty games, with Henderson adding that he thinks Battlefield could attract a lot of the Call Of Duty community.
While none of this can be taken as fact, Henderson is considered a reliable source of information. Not least because his original Twitter account was suspended and, although it was never confirmed, the general consensus is that EA was responsible, which only makes his claims seem more believable.
One thing EA and DICE managed to keep completely under wraps was the existence of a Battlefield mobile game. It will be completely separate to the console/PC release and is scheduled to release in 2022.
Battlefield is expected to release for unspecified consoles and PC later this year.
