Bully 2 reportedly cancelled again for Grand Theft Auto 6

A pair of noted, former Rockstar insiders claim that Bully 2 entered development again, only to be cancelled a second time.

Last year, it was reported that a sequel to Rockstar’s 2006 game Bully had entered development but ended up being cancelled in 2013.

Well, it’s now believed that Rockstar began development on Bully 2 again, only to end up cancelling it for the second time.

This comes from a comment made by former Rockstar insider Tez2 on the GTA Forums as part of a discussion on Grand Theft Auto 6’s development.

Tez2 writes that development on Grand Theft Auto 6, which technically hasn’t been officially announced yet, probably didn’t start until 2016 or 2017.

However, progress began to slow down, as Rockstar was also working on Red Dead Redemption 2 (which released in 2018) and, apparently, Bully 2.

In the end, though, Bully 2 was cancelled in 2017, presumably so Rockstar could focus its efforts on both Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 6.

Another former insider, Yan2295, corroborated Tez2’s claims on Reddit with a simple ‘Yeah he’s right.’

If true, this is sad news for fans who have been desperate for a Bully sequel for years now.

Hopefully, Rockstar’s willingness to at least start development on it on two separate occasions shows there’s still a desire to make it.

If Rockstar ever does make a third attempt, though, it probably won’t be until after Grand Theft Auto 6 releases and there’s no telling when that will happen.
