Bungie Says Opting To Support Reproductive Choice "Wasn’t Difficult"

On Monday, May 2, leaked documents from the US Supreme Court revealed its desire to overturn Roe v. Wade, a case that guarantees federal protection of abortion rights. Bungie has weighed in on social media, staunchly defending people's right to bodily autonomy, and has been responding swiftly and decisively to people who are unhappy with its pro-choice stance.

Since Politico broke the story, people have been taking to Twitter to voice their support for or opposition to the right to an abortion. If Roe v. Wade is overturned, safe abortions will be banned in 26 states. Given that Bungie currently allows for remote working, many of its employees will be affected by this regressive move.

Bungie released a statement that asserted its commitment to "safeguarding the freedom and privacy of its employees." It also denounced the draft decision as "a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights."

Unfortunately, some people are unhappy Bungie has vocalised support for the rights of its employees and people across the country. The social media manager deserves a raise, because they've been dealing with all the negative comments brilliantly.

One reply, "Can we just stick to making video games?" was met with the decisive, "Never." Another, "you are a video game company," was met with the more comical, "you are a toaster," due to their profile picture being a toaster.

One longer reply stated the company should focus on pleasing video game fans and steering clear of politics. The company responded, "We’ve chosen our side and it wasn’t difficult. Our company values exist beyond our games." When another said it should "stop politics" as it's "irrelevant to what yall do," it responded, "It’s very relevant to the lives of our employees. We will never stop."
