Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone banwave incoming warns Infinity Ward

Fan anger at cheaters has caused Infinity Ward to ramp up their plans for another epic wielding of the ban hammer.

Modern Warfare and Warzone might have helped Call Of Duty to new heights of popularity, but a lot of fans are getting fed up with the rampant cheating gong on in the game.

Developer Infinity Ward has been proactive all year in banning tens of thousands of players at a time, but so far it doesn’t seem to have dissuaded the cheaters.

So the developer has issued a new warning and insisted that ‘cheating will not be tolerated’. It’s also warned players not to fall for ‘unscrupulous services offering cheats and modifications, these are fraudulent’.

Infinity Ward’s tweet lists all the various things that count as cheating – as if anyone using them would be in any doubt – including using aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stats hacks, texture hacks, leaderboard hacks, injectors, and hex editors.

In theory you’d expect fans to be all in favour of cracking down on cheaters, but the fear within the community is that many innocent players will end up being banned by accident – as happened last time.

Since detecting cheats is not an exact science there’s no way to completely avoid this, but many fear it could become almost as big a problem as the cheating itself.
