Call of Duty Warzone has been announced today, with the Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode arriving as a download that’s “free for everyone”. The trailer for Call of Duty Warzone has been released today by Activision which confirms its Tuesday March 10 release date for PS4, Xbox One and PCs. And the start time for Call of Duty Warzone has also been revealed, with Modern Warfare owners getting an added bonus.

Those that already own Call of Duty Modern Warfare will get a few hours worth of early access to Warzone.

Modern Warfare fans will be able to download Call of Duty Warzone from 8am pacific time, which is 3pm GMT, on Tuesday.

This is ahead of Call of Duty Warzone being free for everyone from 12pm pacific time, which is 7pm UK time on Tuesday.

The news was revealed in a post by Activision who said: “For owners of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone will replace the previously named ‘Classified’ panel in the Main Menu.

“A one-time early access will give Modern Warfare owners the ability to download Warzone at 8AM PDT. For Modern Warfare owners who are current and have the most recent title updates, the download will be a 18-22GB. Once download is complete, Modern Warfare owners will “unlock” the Warzone panel, which was previously classified, and can enter the lobby and play.

“For non-owners of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone will be available to download free in respective first-party stores starting as early as 12 PM PDT. Head to the store and search for ‘Warzone.’ Choose Call of Duty: Warzone to download. Warzone is a 83-101GB download for new, free-to-play users. Download could take up to several hours depending on bandwidth, service provider, additional regional factors and will vary by platform.

“You do not need to own the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to download, play and enjoy Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone is free for everyone.”

Call of Duty Warzone is a new Battle Royale experience that features matches where up to 150 players battle to be the last one standing.

The new free-to-play Call of Duty experience will be set in the “dense and sprawling world of Verdansk”.

At launch players will be able to squad up in trios to play two different game modes – Battle Royale and Plunder.

In BR players will have to fight to be the last squad standing as they escape a deadly and ever closing gas circle.

While in Plunder the race is on to collect the most in-match Cash by looting across the map.
