Celebrate the Rubik's Cube's 40th Anniversary With This $1,800 USD "Super Small" Cube
Japan has just released a tiny Rubik’s Cube in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the puzzle toy. This commemorative Rubiks Cube weighs just two grams and measures 9.9 millimeters on each side.
Created out of ultra-precision metal, the cube was created by MegaHouse Corp (a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc.) and is a direct translation of Hungarian architect and professor Erno Rubik’s first creation. While the entire world celebrates the iconic cube, this release addresses the popularity the puzzle had in Japan in 1980, when the toy sold four million units in the first eight months of its release.
This limited mini cube has officially gone on sale in Japan for the surprising retail price of ¥198,000 JPY (approximately $1,900 USD) with deliveries starting in December.
