Cyberpunk 2077: Keanu Reeves tells you off for trying to play early

It appears Cyberpunk 2077 not only requires a day one patch, but a separate pre-launch patch as well, at least on Xbox.

Cyberpunk 2077’s launch is inching closer and closer, with Xbox and PC owners currently able to pre-load it in preparation.

But what happens if you attempt to access the game before launch? Well, on the GOG Galaxy service, at least, you’ll actually get told off by Keanu Reeves.

As discovered by a Reddit user, booting it up via GOG Galaxy will bring up a backdrop of a landfill and Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand, will say ‘Go back to sleep, Samurai! It’s not December 10th yet.’

It’s an admittedly cute Easter egg and only further cements that the game is actually releasing this time and won’t suffer any last-minute delays.

Some fans have received their copies of the game early (which led to people attempting to stream it) and one person has noticed, on the Xbox version at least, that it will require a rather sizable 43.5 GB patch at launch.

After sharing this information on Twitter, CD Projekt Red’s own Fabian Mario Döhla responded and revealed that it is, in fact, not the update planned for launch day.

This likely makes this patch a Day Zero update for pre-launch (maybe even part of the pre-load). The patch planned for launch day will likely iron out any lingering bugs or glitches.

Hopefully, for anyone who isn’t pre-loading, both patches will be rolled into one so you won’t have to sit through two separate updates.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on December 10. Separate PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are planned for 2021.
