Cyberpunk 2077’s DLC will be free, just like The Witcher 3

In response to a fan on Twitter, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will follow The Witcher 3 model and have free DLC.

Fans excited for Cyberpunk 2077 may not be able to try out a beta ahead of release, no matter what some emails have claimed, but they can look forward to it having free DLC, aka the best kind of DLC.

This news doesn’t come from an official press release or anything. A fan simply posited the question of if the game’s DLC would be free to the official Twitter account.

The account responded with a GIF of mascot character the Kool-Aid Man saying his catchphrase of ‘Oh yeah,’ effectively confirming it.

That game did receive two expansions that you had to pay for, but they were much meatier than the free DLC, so it’s always possible that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive similar paid expansions too.

At the time of writing, CD Projekt Red hasn’t provided any indication as to what any future DLC will consist of, but The Witcher 3 offered the likes of new hair styles and armour sets.

One more substantial possibility is multiplayer features, which the studio opted to delay until 2022.

Details about the multiplayer are still rather non-existent, though, and it could very well end up being a separate game.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release 19 November for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also release for Stadia this year and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
