Destiny 2: How To Earn Ghost Fragments

Destiny 2 has a plethora of currency types that players have to juggle. Each planet has at least one unique currency type. The Tangled Shore has two: Etheric Spirals and Ghost Fragments. Etheric Spirals are a generic destination material that is rather easy to earn, but Ghost Fragments require a more specific farm to earn.

To complete Spider’s Wanted Bounties, Guardians will need to obtain Ghost Fragments to purchase them. Earning Ghost Fragments is as easy as playing activities on the Tangled Shore. With that said, some activities are much better for farming Ghost Fragments than others. Here is a complete guide on obtaining Ghost Fragments in Destiny 2.

How To Obtain Ghost Fragments

Ghost Fragments are a currency type required to purchase Wanted Bounties from the Spider in the Tangled Shore. Players can only hold 20 at a time, even if they have Ghost Fragments stored in their Vault or Postmaster.

You can earn Ghost Fragments from the following activities on the Tangled Shore:

  • Patrols
  • Public Events
  • Region Chests
  • Lost Sectors
  • High-Value Targets
  • Adventures

As of the Beyond Light Expansion, Heroic Adventures are no longer available on the Tangled Shore due to the removal of weekly flashpoint planets. Standard Adventures during the Forsaken Campaign do provide Ghost Fragments, however.

Regional Chests and Heroic Public Events grant two Ghost Fragments upon completion. All other sources grant only one Ghost Fragment. Only 20 Ghost Fragments can be held at a time. Completing activities while holding 20 Ghost Fragments will not grant additional fragments to your Postmaster.

Patrols

All Patrols grant one Ghost Fragment when completed. The easiest Patrols to farm are the elimination and scavenge Patrols. If none of these Patrols are in the zone, activate a Patrol, then abandon it. One Patrol will be randomly generated at a new location to take its place.

Public Events

Normal Public Events grant one Ghost Fragment while Heroic variants grant two Ghost Fragments. There are three Public Events on the Tangled Shore: Cryo Pod, Ether Resupply, and Glimmer Extraction. The Ether Resupply Public Event is the fastest out of the three to complete on its Heroic variant, although it only occurs in the Four-Horn Gulch. Farming the non-Heroic variants is faster in most circumstances.

Region Chests

These golden chests are hidden throughout every planet in Destiny 2. The Tangled Shore has 18 Region Chests to loot, each granting two Ghost Fragments when opened. Once a Region Chest is opened, it cannot be opened again. YouTuber 360GameTV has a video guide covering all Region Chest locations that you can watch here.

Lost Sectors

Every Lost Sector grants one Ghost Fragment when looted. Most Lost Sectors on the Tangled Shore are relatively short, so it is up to preference on which one you should farm. For convenience, The Empty Tank Lost Sector in Thieves’ Landing is a quick Lost Sector that’s right beside the Spider’s hideout.

High-Value Targets

High-Value Targets sometimes patrol a part of the Tangled Shore, denoted by a string of text at the bottom left of your screen. Killing this miniboss will cause a chest to drop on their corpse. Loot it to obtain one Ghost Fragment.

Adventures

As of the Beyond Light expansion, Heroic Adventures are no longer available on the Tangled Shore. Guardians experiencing the Forsaken campaign can obtain one Ghost Fragment from completing the standard Baron Hunt Adventures. These Adventures are not repeatable.
