Fans are outraged as leak hints Fortnite Chapter 2 countdown will last all week
It's Monday morning and Fortnite is offline after the whole map was sucked into a singularity (read: black hole) on Sunday evening.
There has, at the time of writing, been no official word from Epic on when the game will go back online, but the reading from infamous dataminers could be bad news for gamers eager to get their hands back on the game as soon as possible.
Many players were expecting the game to arrive back on consoles, mobile and PC platforms shortly after the black hole appeared, but it seems that this new-fangled way of doing downtime could actually extend beyond any period we've seen before.
One leaker seems to hint that we'll be waiting until at least Thursday before we'll be able to log back into the game.
Here's what you need to know.
Last night, long-time Fortnite sleuth and well-known dataminer @Lucas7yoshi dug up some information that hinted that the actual end of ‘The End’ event (as the black hole is officially known) could last until 9am BST this coming Tuesday.
But that information now seems to be out of date.
More recently, @Lucas7yoshi tweeted:
"Thehttp:// fortnite.comcode was updated so the the-end thing has its end_time as Thursday at 4am EST. i really doubt they really going to make people not play for 4 days or whatever straight but its epic lmao. take it as you will"
Could we really be waiting all week for Fortnite to come back online?
Well, this is Epic we're talking about, and over the last few years, the developer has achieved something of a reputation for just doing what it likes!
