First Doom Eternal DLC screenshots look suitably epic

If you’ve finished Doom Eternal and were wishing it went on for just a bit longer then id Software has teased the first DLC expansion.

We’ll be honest, we’d forgotten all about it, but Doom Eternal actually has two DLC story campaigns planned for the future and the first one is already being teased.

No explanation has been offered for what the images are, but the first one looks like Urdak, home planet of the Makyr race, and the other is… an oil rig.

The official description of the DLC offers a little extra detail: ’Your victory over Hell’s armies pulled humanity back from the edge of extinction, but it came at a cost. An imbalance of power in the heavens requires the true ruler of this universe to rise and set things right.’

More Doom is always a good thing in our book, and although we had a few issues with Doom Eternal it was overall an improvement on the initial reboot and one of the best single-player shooters of recent years.

Its achievements have been somewhat overshadowed in recent weeks though, by controversy over its soundtrack. With developer id Software and composer Mick Gordon swearing never to work together again, after Gordon had control of the final mix on the collector’s edition soundtrack taken away from him.

According to id Software they had no choice or they would’ve been sued for missing a deadline, but the end result is that Gordon will not be working on any future games in the series – or the DLC.
