You need to, specifically, be using the new Sentinel skin in order to collect Fortbyte 36.

No Sentinel skin, no Fortbyte to collect. Them the breaks.

If you do select the Sentinel skin and visit the very south edge of the island you’ll find the Fortbyte which will materialise before you.

Pick it up and the Fortbyte is all yours. And as with most Fortnite collectables or challenges make sure you finish the game properly for it to count.
