Fortnite Hosting A Film Festival On February 20

Fortnite will be hosting the Short Nite film festival on February 20, giving you a chance to watch some of the best shorts of the past few years. The event will start at 2pm ET and will run for about 30 minutes. Once it’s done, the show will repeat on a loop until February 21 at 2pm ET.

If you’re eager to check out the festival – which is said to include films that were previously nominated for Academy Awards – you can dive into the action a bit early on February 19 at 7pm ET. While the event won’t start until the next day, you’ll be able to find a new Jumbo Popcorn Emote in the Item Shop, which is the perfect way for your virtual player to enjoy the virtual show.

As is the case with most Fortnite festivities, Short Nite can be viewed in Party Royale on the Big Screen. You’ll also have the option to watch Short Nite during a regular Battle Royale match using Picture-in-Picture, which Epic said will be available every two hours after the first airing at 2pm ET.

Unfortunately for content creators, this is one event that can’t be streamed. “And as a heads-up for Content Creators, just like with any theater, there’s no recording of these films during Short Nite,” announced Epic Games. “Instead, invite your fans there live! Any streams or VODs of these films (whether from Party Royale or via Picture-in-Picture) will go dark per content protection rules.”

Fortnite continues to thrive, despite the ongoing battle with the Apple App Store. The game is still not available on the popular platform, and Epic Games is still fighting to change the regulations around digital storefronts.

In fact, it seems that the company was behind a recent North Dakota bill that was seeking to ban digital stores from forcing developers to exclusively use their payment systems. North Dakota State Senator, Kyle Davison, apparently received a draft of the bill from a lobbyist hired by Epic Games.

Short Nite will begin on February 20 at 2pm ET.
