Fortnitemares Is Returning October 18
Epic has officially confirmed that the starting date for this year's Fortnitemares will be October 18, sharing a video that seems to tease a crystal wolf as one of the skins that'll be included as part of the event.
Today is the first day of October, which means that spooky season is finally around the corner. With that season comes live-service games getting in on the hype, including Fortnite with Fortnitemares, Epic's yearly Halloween celebration that adds Halloween-themed skins and challenges to the game.
If you're not familiar with Fortnitemares, chances are that you've seen some of the iconic skins that it's added, including Curdle Scream Leader, Peely Bone, and the truly horrifying Mincemeat. Fortnite fans have been waiting to find out what this year's event will contain, and it looks like they won't have to wait long as the official Fortnite Twitter account confirmed that the event is returning October 18.
Fortnite tweeted a short video that flashes between a few different shots of what appears to be a crystallised wolf of some kind, almost resembling Drift. The tweet also said, "Tis’ the season of screams, bad dreams, and all monstrous things. Fortnitemares returns October 18".
Although that crystal wolf seems like a likely bet for a skin, we do know about two others that will be included. As pointed out by reliable Fortnite insider ShiinaBR, two fan-made concepts will be a part of this year's event – Glare and Sorrow. Who else will join them is currently unknown, but we're likely to start getting teases over the next few weeks now that the event has been officially confirmed and dated.
Alongside creepy costumes, previous Fortnitemares have also featured a few crossovers, such as having a Ghostbusters back bling and outfits for characters from The Walking Dead. It remains to be seen if anything like that will pop up during this year's event, but it seems likely considering it's happened in the past.
