Gearbox To End The Borderlands 3 Vault Insider Program In May
The Vault Insider Program, a promotional feature that essentially allows players to earn loot and rewards for various Borderlands games, is set to end later this year.
The information comes from the official Borderlands website, and was posted by Gearbox, who explained the significance of the program and why it is going to be discontinued. In short, the reason for discontinuing the Vault Insider Program is because Borderlands 3 came out a while ago, and as such, the program has become meaningless.
Before the game came out, the Vault Insider Program was established in order to allow players to earn extra in-game items for themselves by linking accounts and watching trailers, presentations, and more. Since the game is already a few months old, all promotional trailers leading up to the launch are basically pointless and have little to no reason to be viewed. As such, discontinuing the Vault Insider Program makes sense.
However, this isn’t the bad news one might think it is. As a token of gratitude for using the Vault Insider Program and for being a member, Gearbox is offering a time-limited SHiFT code for 10 Golden Keys for Borderlands 3:
• C3C3B-BB9SS-FTKHK-ZTWTB-99CRX (Valid until March 3, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. PT)
Additionally, the company took the time to post an FAQ section that answers some of the most basic or common questions one may have about the closure of the Vault Insider Program. For instance, until the program is discontinued, it will still be possible create VIP profiles, earn VIP points, and use them to redeem VIP items. On top of that, once the Vault Insider Program does end, all VIP profiles will be disabled and unredeemed VIP points will be lost. Although players will still be able to keep any in-game items they have already redeemed via the program (and obviously linked the profile to their SHiFT account), they will not be able to acquire the items with VIP points once the program is discontinued.
The Vault Insider Program is set to end on May 18, 2020. The good news about that is that there is still plenty of time to claim any unclaimed rewards, or generally sign up for the program and hoard as much loot as time currently allows.
