Get A Taste For 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim’s English VO With This New Trailer
Sega and Atlus have released a new trailer for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim that shows off the English VO track that will be included in its western release. Titled “Dreams or Reality,” the trailer sets up the basic premise for the game while revealing the first sample of what the English dub will sound like. Having played a considerable amount of the game in Japanese, the casting is actually shockingly close to what the original sounds like.
Obviously the inflection and tone are tweaked, but none of the voices sound out of place or forced. I’m still something of a purist when it comes to media like this, but I don’t think those that opt for the English option will be getting a lousy experience. That’s especially impressive considering how 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was recorded.
As revealed a few weeks back, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Sega and Atlus to relocate all recording to home studios. With the actors not necessarily using the best equipment, the quality on offer here is exceptional. It sounds no different from what I’d expect from a professional studio.
With no other delays coming, we only have a few weeks left until 13 Sentinels is out in the wild. My time with the preview build was rather positive and I’ve become hooked on it leading up to review. I can’t speak about too much, but you’ll have to keep an open mind going in. This is nothing like developer Vanillaware’s past titles.
I’m happy Sega and Atlus took a chance on localizing this title. While strategy games aren’t exactly rare anymore, there hasn’t really been something like this released on consoles in ages. Most developers have turned to PC for RTS titles and that has created something of a homogenized approach to strategy game design.
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim might not be a genre-defining classic, but it spins an intriguing narrative that will likely get you sucked in. I can’t say for certain that you should plunk down the cash on a pre-order, but make sure to keep this game in mind. It’s bound to be a sleeper hit of 2020.
