GTA Online Cayo Perico Heist is the safest Xmas party possible says Rockstar

The biggest update yet for GTA Online is now live, as Rockstar describe it as the best way to get together with friends this Christmas.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is now over seven years old and yet it’s still rarely been out of the top 10 (the Christmas rush has still only pushed it down as far as 14 this week) and is awaiting a next gen makeover next year.

The primary appeal at this point is GTA Online and that has just received one of its biggest updates ever. The Cayo Perico Heist has just switched on and revolves around a major new heist mission against drug dealer El Rubio.

Rockstar is promising the biggest heist mission so far, which involves robbing a bank using a decommissioned Soviet submarine and yet doesn’t require any set-up or planning if you’re not in the mood for it.

Unusually, the heist can also be played solo if you prefer, instead of as a four-player co-op mission, with the option to go all guns blazing or take a stealthier approach.

‘The Cayo Perico Heist is our way of getting everyone together to party and dance in the safest possible way while also giving players the chance to take on our biggest and best Heist yet,’ says Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser.

‘It’s been a difficult and challenging year, and we wanted to make something everyone could have some fun in – we’re really excited for you to play.’

In that same party spirit, the update will also add three new radio stations, in the form of Still Slipping Los Santos from UK DJ Joy Orbison; Kult FM hosted by Julian Casablancas of The Strokes; and Music Locker Radio, featuring Moodymann, Keinemusik and Palms Trax.

At the same time existing stations Worldwide FM and FlyLo FM will also get new songs, for a total of over 250 new tracks.
