Food is essential to providing a variety of buffs in Icarus, as well as ensuring that you do not starve to death. From the start of the game, you will be able to gather and eat berries and other plants that you may find, but eventually, you will be able to bake bread.
Bread is a food item that can replenish your hunger and provide beneficial buffs that will help with your survival. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to make bread. First, let's check out the required equipment that you will need to make the bread.
Equipment Needed To Make Bread
In total, you will need three different pieces of equipment to make bread. Below, you can find each of these items, as well as the required materials to craft each one.
|Equipment||Materials Required||Tier Unlocked|
|Mortar and Pestle||Tier 2|
|Kitchen Bench||Tier 3|
|Biofuel Stove||Tier 3|
Once you build the kitchen bench, you will be able to unlock the biofuel stove, as well as the recipe for bread dough. Next, let's take a look at the ingredients needed to make bread dough, including where to find them.
Making Bread Dough
As mentioned above, you can unlock the recipe for bread dough once you unlock the kitchen bench, making it a tier-three blueprint. To make bread dough, you will need to combine the following ingredients at the kitchen bench.
- 5x Flour
- 1x Yeast
To make flour, you will need to combine ten wheat and process it in the mortar and pestle. Wheat is a grass-like plant that can be found growing directly on the ground in the forest biome.
To harvest wheat, be sure to use a sickle; this is the most efficient way to gather the plant. A sickle is a simple tool that can be unlocked on tier one of the technology tree and requires the following materials to craft.
- 2x Wood
- 2x Leather
- 20x Bone
There are sickles on later tiers of the crafting tree that are sturdier, but a bone sickle will harvest wheat just fine.
Yeast comes from small flowers that can also be found growing in the forest biome. You can harvest these flowers without a tool, but using a sickle will yield more yeast. Yeast flowers are greenish-yellow in color and look like little bulbs.
Baking Your Bread
Once you have combined wheat and yeast at the kitchen bench to make bread dough, it's time to start baking. To do so, head to the biofuel stove and add your bread dough. After baking, you will have your very own loaf of bread that you can eat. Eating the bread will provide the following status effects that last for about 15 minutes.
- +10 percent Experience Gained
- +125 Maximum Stamina
- +100 Maximum Health
That's all there is to know about making bread in Icarus. Don't forget to make plenty of food so you can survive on the harsh planet!
