Judgment Series Might Finally Be Headed To PC
Yakuza spin-off series Judgment might finally be headed to PC as new ESRB ratings for Judgement and sequel Lost Judgment have been spotted ahead of a Ryu Ga Gotoku showcase that will air tomorrow.
First spotted by Twitter user Wario64, both of the ESRB ratings for Judgment and Lost Judgment have been updated to include "Windows PC" as a platform, suggesting that developer Ryu Ga Gotoku is gearing up for an announcement pretty soon. In fact, the developer has a RGG Summit that will take place tomorrow at 7pm JST, a perfect place for an announcement as well as a first look at Yakuza 8.
While it's probably surprising for those unfamiliar with the series that it isn't already on Steam, those who've played the games will likely be aware of the issue with the game's lead actor Takuya Kimura. While not confirmed by either party, it's presumed that the main reason the series is yet to hit PC is due to a disagreement between Sega and Kimura's talent agency Johnny & Associates.
Kimura himself is very well known in Japan, being one of the country's biggest J-pop stars, which has led to all sorts of complications. For example, it's highly speculated that Kimura's J-pop career is the main reason behind the lack of karaoke in the series. Johnny & Associates also aren't too keen on having Kimura's likeness so readily available on the Internet, possibly over fears about his character model being modded or ripped from the game.
However, it now seems like Sega and Johnny & Associated may have come to an agreement after all, although it's worth these ESRB ratings don't 100 hundered percent guarantee that PC ports are on the way. If they are, they'll likely be announced during the Ryu Ga Gotoku summit tomorrow, so keep your eyes peeled on that if you're one of the many hoping the series comes to Steam.
