Just Dance 2023 Is Skipping PS4 And Xbox One For The First Time

The next entry in the Just Dance series was announced at Ubisoft Forward and it looks like the music rhythm title is abandoning the previous gen of consoles for the new game.

Just Dance 2023 won't be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and not even to the Nintendo Wii. Instead it'll be exclusive to current-gen consoles and PC. The new game, which is launching November 22, will have a host of brand new features including the ability to dance off against players regardless of the platform you're playing on.

For the first time, Just Dance 2023 will include online multiplayer from the date of its launch and it will support cross-play on all the platforms it will be available on (thanks Eurogamer). This includes PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X, and presumably also Stadia which is coming at a later date. The new online multiplayer will support parties of up to six people.

Players can expect a new art direction, characters, user interface, and of course new songs. Some of the already confirmed songs include (via PureXbox):

  • “Physical” by Dua Lipa
  • “More” by K/DA ft. Madison Beer, (G)I-DLE, Lexie Liu, Jaira Burns & Seraphine
  • “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” by Justin Timberlake
  • “Love Me Land” by Zara Larsson
  • “Locked Out of Heaven” by Bruno Mars
  • “STAY” by The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber
  • “Sweet but Psycho” by Ava Max
  • “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne
  • “If You Wanna Party” by The Just Dancers

Just Dance 2023 will see more features and songs added from its release date in what Ubisoft calls a "dance-on-demand platform". These will be free content updates. As with previous titles, players can expect a mobile app. "There will now be two controller apps on the app store – the new app is compatible with Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X only and the current app for previous-gen," Ubisoft told Eurogamer, with Switch players needing to use the new app to play the 2023 Edition.

Players can expect a "new era" for the series, according to Ubisoft, with "new modes, personalisation, 3D immersive worlds, and new content year-round". Expect Just Dance 2023 to arrive on November 22.
