Meet The Duke, Resident Evil Village’s Merchant
Resident Evil Village isn’t going to be an easy game, but you don’t have to tackle its challenges all alone. Capcom recently pulled back the curtain on a new NPC – The Duke – who will sell various recipes for crafting and weapon customization, making your journey a little less painful.
Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase brought us a wealth of new info regarding Resident Evil Village, but one of the most intriguing announcements was The Duke. This strange character plays an integral role in Village, giving Ethan a way to fill his inventory in between battles. The main draw of The Duke, however, might be their value when it comes to crafting and weapon customization.
” In today’s first extensive look at gameplay, the development team revealed several new details including some features which harken back to fan-favorite elements from previous Resident Evil games,” said Capcom. ” Protagonist Ethan will now be able to purchase and sell items, buy recipes for crafting, and customize weapons with a merchant dubbed ‘The Duke.’ Using materials found throughout the game, he will be able to craft invaluable consumables needed to survive the terrors of the village.”
Capcom hopes these components bring a level of “strategic planning” to Resident Evil Village and give you a reason to stop and think before heading off into the chaos. It was also revealed that Village will feature a “revised inventory system based on space management that might be familiar to series fans.”
Resident Evil Village features a variety of new enemies, each of which uses a different technique to confront Ethan. Some are fast and easily dispatched, while others are slow, lumbering beasts that will take dozens of bullets to bring down. Taking advantage of The Duke’s inventory will be key to coming out of these battles alive, as you’ll need to constantly craft new items and upgrade your current set of gear.
Resident Evil Village is the eighth major installment in the franchise and is planned to release later this year.
