Microsoft To Launch Xbox Series X With Live Gameplay, Charity Drives
With the Xbox Series X and Series S both launching on November 10, priced $500 and $300 respectively, Microsoft is going all out to celebrate the arrival of these next-gen consoles. The event, scheduled to begin on November 10 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET, can be seen on the official Xbox YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Gaming channels.
During the day, Microsoft will host Xbox Let’s Play streams, charity drives, and global “launch highlights.” According to head of Xbox Phil Spencer, the company simply wants fans to enjoy playing their favorite games, which may be difficult for some since not all will have an Xbox in their hands on that same day.
“This will be a moment of play, not press releases, as next-generation consoles begin to land in the hands of players around the world,” said Spencer, emphasizing that fans shouldn’t expect anything big but to concentrate on having fun.
“You will be able to experience many of its benefits right away – like the incredible look and feel of movement at 120fps, faster load times, richer gaming libraries, the mobile reach of cloud gaming, and new unforgettable game experiences,” Spencer added.
Preorders of Series X/S have been sold out nearly everywhere, though there may be some available on the day of the launch. Best Buy is also expected to be restocked on Black Friday for online orders. Another setback for fans is that there aren’t too many highly-anticipated games debuting with the Xbox Series X/S.
In response to the limited stock at launch, Spencer said, “All of our day-one units are at retailers, or very close to that. We’ve built all of our day one allocations. We know what our supply will look like, basically for the rest of the year. We’re going to have more demand that supply, and I’ll apologize in advance for that.”
Although the highly-anticipated Halo Infinite has been delayed until next year, there will be some next-gen third-party games at launch like Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Also, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War arrives shortly after on November 13.
