Official F1 Manager Game Launches for Android and iOS
Hutch has launched the first of its “multi-year, multi-game” F1 titles, under its official licence for the series.
F1 Manager is a free-to-play mobile title, now available for Android and iOS devices. As the name implies, it’s a management sim rather than a full racing title. The player takes the role of a team manager, responsible for both the development of their car and in-race decisions. It features all of the official circuits, teams and drivers from the 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship.
You’ll be able to create your own F1 team, with your own livery. From there you’ll need to hire drivers for your car, starting out with those from the lower end of the grid — like Lance Stroll and Alexander Albon.
Players then face head-to-head battles with other players in a real-time, live race. The team manager can select the tire strategy for each driver, manage pit stops, and tell their pilots to speed up to gain places or slow down to save fuel. Safety cars and weather can play a role in races too.
Depending on the race results, you’ll be able to advance to higher leagues and championships. You’ll gain upgrades to both your driver and car, with gearbox, engine, brakes, and front and rear aerodynamics all having seven grades of improvements. Over time you’ll also be able to hire better drivers, like Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton — and upgrade them too!
There is, of course, a loot crate mechanism which delivers your upgrades and winnings. Should you prefer a shortcut you’ll be able to buy these directly, or watch some in-app ads to gain access to a crate every few hours.
Shaun Rutland, CEO and co-founder of Hutch commented:
“Formula 1 has a massive global fanbase and for years game developers have successfully delivered the F1 driving experience. The F1 fans in our design team felt the team principal perspective was under-served and more suited to mobile play. Our team has created a game that captures the excitement of a race weekend, focusing on the vital decisions made from behind the pit wall. We’re excited to bring this mobile-first F1 game to fans around the world.”
F1 Manager is available to download now on both iOS and Android:
