PlayStation 4 games LEAK: Sony saying goodbye to PS4 in style
If a new PS4 games leak is to be believed, Sony is planning to see out the current console generation in style.
With the PS5 tipped to have a late 2020 release date, fans can expect the final batch of PS4 exclusives to launch within the next 12 months.
And according to a new leak posted on Resetera, Sony will launch one of its last major PlayStation 4 exclusives in early 2020.
With a great track record when it comes to leaks, ZhugeEX claims that The Last of Us 2 will have a February 2020 release date.
Not only does this make sense with Death Stranding launching at the tail end of 2019, but this launch date also backs up a previous Last of Us 2 leak.
And it looks like Sony has big plans for the Naughty Dog sequel, which has been one of the most anticipated games of this generation.
If the leak turns out to be correct, then The Last of Us 2 could end up launching with multiple different editions.
According to the post, fans could be treated to four versions of The Last of Us 2 at launch.
This includes a Standard Edition, Special Edition, Collectors Edition, and a mysterious Ellie Edition.
While the contents of the Ellie Edition are yet to be revealed, it’s likely it will launch with a statue of Ellie, perhaps strumming a guitar.
Sony is expected to hold another State of Play stream soon, so chances are we’ll find out more about the release date and special editions then.
The Last of Us Part 2 sees a 19-year-old Ellie embark on what Sony describes as a “brutal journey of retribution”.
“From the way Ellie plays to the way she navigates through this hostile world, you’re going to feel her physical, emotional, and mental state expressed through every facet of gameplay,” reads a Sony blog post.
“We’ve completely overhauled our engine, developed new combat mechanics, created a new analog stealth system, and revamped our animation system to fully express Ellie’s desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility.”
While very little has been seen of the game in action, The Last of Us 2 is said to feature broader and more complex environments for players to explore.
