There are many options for customization on the Pokemon Unite battlefield, specifically, with the Pokemon and items you choose to use. Among these personalization options are Held Items, equipped to alter your Pokemon's stats and abilities in matches.

Beyond boosting your Pokemon's stats, the use of Held Items often gives you the option to completely alter your play style. This greatly adds to the variety in your experience from match to match, making old Pokemon feel brand new when using the right Held Items. Below you can find everything you need to know about these extremely important items.

What Are Held Items?

As mentioned previously, Held Items can be equipped prior to a match, altering your in-game stats and abilities depending on which items you choose. There are several Held Items to choose from when deciding how to customize a specific Pokemon, with the ability to equip a maximum of three of them when preparing for a match.

You will only start with one Held Item slot when you first start playing the game. You will unlock the second Held Item slot at Trainer level seven, then the third at Trainer level ten.

Each Held Item will provide you with a unique in-game ability, including both offensive- and defensive-minded abilities. In addition to this, each Held Item will increase one or two of your Pokemon's stats, including improvements to your Pokemon's HP, Attack stats, Defense stats, and many more.

Different Held Items can be purchased at the in-game shop in the "Held Items" section of the Aeos Emporium, costing either Aeos Coins or Aeos Tickets. Once you have purchased a Held Item, it is permanently added to your account, allowing you to use them an infinite amount of times with any Pokemon that you'd like.

How To Level Up Held Items

When you first acquire a Held Item, it will be Grade One, meaning that it has never been leveled up. You can increase the Grade of a Held Item through the use of Item Enhancers, an in-game currency item that can be acquired either through the completion of missions or through purchase at the in-game shop.

There are consumables called Super Item Enhancers, instantly increasing a Held Item to the maximum level, Grade 30. When using these on a Held Item, you will be refunded that amount of Item Enhancers that you have previously invested in that specific Held Item.

There are also 7-Day Max-Grade Trial Cards that you can use on Held Items. This will increase a Held Item to Grade 30, but will only last for seven days.

A Held Item can be leveled up all the way to Grade 30, this being the maximum level of every Held Item in the game. As the Grade of a Held Item is increased, it will require more Item Enhancers to level it up, requiring hundreds of Item Enhancers per level-up as you get closer to Grade 30.

It requires a total of 2,587 Item Enhancers to level up a Held Item from Grade one to Grade 30.

Each time you increase the Grade of a Held Item, the stat boosts that it provides will be increased as well. In addition to this, when reaching Grade ten and Grade 20, the ability that the Held Item grants will also be improved. These improvements to the Held Item's ability prove to be the most significant, so it's important to level up your Held Items to at least Grade 20 to maximize its effectiveness.
