PS4 6.72 update is LIVE: Patch notes and changes for new PlayStation download

PS4 firmware update 6.72 has just gone live on the PlayStation console.

Sony’s latest system update will need to be downloaded before you can use some of the console’s online features.

Unfortunately, however, the new update isn’t brimming with new features and changes.

Instead, according to the patch notes, the new PlayStation 4 download makes one key improvement.

“This system software update improves system performance,” reads a Sony post.

While it’s disappointing not to get a boatload of new features, the plus side is that the update shouldn’t take too long to download.

Indeed, weighing in at just 464MB, PS4 fans should be up and running in no time at all.

The news comes as Sony teams with Amazon to deliver an amazing PS Plus deal on Prime Day.

In a deal that’s too good to miss, PS4 owners with an Amazon Prime subscription can get 15 months of PS Plus for just £48.99.

This 30% saving is cheaper than the price of a 12-month PS Plus subscription from the PlayStation Store (£49.99).

Unfortunately, however, the offer is only available to Prime subscribers in the UK.

“After you complete the purchase, you will receive a link on the order-confirmation page with detailed instruction to redeem your code on PlayStation store,” Amazon explains.

“This link is also stored in your Games & Software Library.”

Grab the deal now and you can take advantage of PS Plus benefits like free games.

The current PlayStation Plus freebies include Detroit: Become Human for PS4 and Horizon Chase Turbo.

Detroit: Become Human is the latest release from the studio behind Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain, while Horizon Chase Turbo is inspired by retro games like Outrun.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can also access online multiplayer, receive exclusive discounts and get extended cloud storage coverage.
