PS4 surprise UPDATE: Download these FREE PlayStation game bonuses today
There are new games to try out for free this weekend on the PS4 and PS4 Pro.
PlayStation fans who are in the mood to try something new this weekend from the PlayStation Store have a couple of options today.
The new PS4 demo of Rainbow Skies can be downloaded from the PlayStation Store right now and doesn’t require a PS Plus account.
Launched on the PS3 and PS Vita, as well as the PS4, Rainbow Skies is a fantasy RPG with turn-based battles.
And while it has received solid reviews on the PlayStation Store, the game has a much more mixed rating on Metacritic.
The good news is that the new Rainbow Skies demo provides 60 minutes of gameplay so that fans can make up their minds for themselves.
And it should also be noted that the RPG from Eastasiasoft is a Cross-Buy and Cross-Save product, meaning you can play it on all three PlayStation platforms.

“Immerse yourself in a colourful and vibrant world, filled to the brim with friends and foes, murky dungeons, turn-based battles, towns, shops, and everything else your role-playing heart desires,” the official game description reads.
“Tamable monsters, upgradable characters, and a variety of weapons, equipment and skills offer you a wide range of customisation and character development possibilities.
“Tons of side quests, towns, and other exciting content will keep you hooked for countless hours.”
So for anyone who wants to try out a new RPG that includes classic turn-based battles combo attack, and monster taming, Rainbow Skies might be worth a look.
The Rainbow Skies demo can be downloaded for no extra charge and weighs in at just under 2GB on PS4.
This should make it a comfortable fit for any PlayStation hard drive and doesn’t look to be a timed exclusive, only available for a limited time.
More demos are expected to be released on the PlayStation Store very soon, and there are several different choices available today.
For those wanting another free game option, a trial version Monster Hunter World was recently released on the PS4.
Anyone can currently download and play MHW on PS4 for free, although multiplayer services do require a PS Plus subscription.
Weighing in at just under 15GB, the new Monster Hunter title from Capcom will be available to try out until May 20.
After this, it will revert to its standard pricing, with the trial version only allowing gameplay progression up to Hunter Rank 4.
“Available starting today, the MH: World free trial on PS4 will be live today through May 20th and will feature content straight from the full game, up until the completion of the Tobi-Kadachi assignment quest at Hunter Rank 4,” the surprise MHW demo announcement confirms.
“You’ll be able to start your journey, create your Hunter and Palico companion, and access all the features the game has to offer up until that point in the story (HR4).
“This means you’ll also be able to play with other hunters online and even partake in the Spring Blossom Fest, one our many seasonal events.
“Also, let’s not underestimate the amount of content packed into those early missions. You’ll get to explore two ample environments, each with a variety of monsters to hunt, vistas to take in, endemic life to discover, lots of gear to craft, 14 different weapon types to try out and Palico gear.
“And once you’ve decided to convert to the full game (which is currently on sale for just $19.99 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital stores, btw!), your entire progress will carry over so you can pick up exactly where you left off in the free trial.”
For those not interested in trying out Monster Hunter World or Rainbow Skies, PS Plus in May is currently offering What Remains of Edith Finch and Overcooked as free downloads.
