PS5 will be ‘twice as thick’ as PS4 Pro claims leaker, has ‘unusual detail’

An anonymous developer working on the PS5 has apparently shared some details about the console’s design and size.

We’ll finally be seeing some first-party PlayStation 5 games be announced later this week, but it’s likely that Sony intends on keeping the console itself hidden for a while longer.

However, a Russian magazine named Gamemag has apparently received some leaked information from an anonymous American developer regarding the console’s look, which has been translated by Gamingbolt.

There have been plenty of ‘leaks’ and rumours about the PlayStation 5’s design, with some suspecting that it will look very different compared to previous PlayStation consoles.

The developer says the opposite, stating that it will have a traditional design. Though they didn’t provide specifics, they described it as a box with rounded edges and that it will be twice as thick as the PS4 Pro.

The devkit was supposedly leaked last year and does bear a slightly similar appearance to what this developer has said, though the final console design may still look completely different.

They added that there are a couple of features that Sony has yet to announce, including an ‘unusual detail.’

They didn’t elaborate on what that meant as revealing any more would allow Sony to track and identify them. Given the number of strange patents Sony has been making over the last several months, could it have something to do with one of those, like the robot companion that has emotions?

As always, we can’t wholly trust this information as it could very easily be fake, but we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to see Sony verify any of it, as the console is still scheduled to release by the end of the year.
