PS5’s storage space is actually 664GB suggests new leak

Some supposedly leaked images of the PlayStation 5’s UI show that its 825GB storage space includes the operating system and other files.

One PlayStation 5 leak already claims to show a brief glimpse at the console’s start-up sequence and UI but there’s also a second leak concerning the storage space.

According to alleged photos posted to Imgur, while the PlayStation 5 boasts a storage space of 825GB, users will only be able to use 664GB of it.

This is because of the console’s operating system and other, essential system files are already taking up some of that space.

While still unconfirmed at the time of writing, it’s not surprising – although naturally many are already quite upset.

One user on ResetEra joked: ‘Why, that’s enough room for three Call Of Duty Warzones!’, referencing Warzone’s infamously ever-expanding download size.

Others have also compared it to the Xbox Series X, which offers roughly 800GB of its 1TB (one terabyte is 1,000 GB).

However, the proprietary 1TB expansion cards for the Xbox Series X/S are very expensive, while Sony will allow cheaper third party devices to be used.

In addition, there’s always the possibility that Sony will release an improved version of the PlayStation 5 down the line that offers more storage space.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on November 19.
