Red Dead Online update 1.22: Rockstar Games rolls back PS4 and Xbox patch
Red Dead Redemption 2 Online gamers are reporting a sharp improvement in gameplay and connectivity following today’s update. And the reason behind this is Rockstar Games’ decision to roll back the changes made in the previous Red Dead Online update. This news regarding Red Dead Online version 1.22 was announced by the development team on Twitter, telling gamers:
“We’ve rolled back the most recent Red Dead Online Title Update for PS4 and Xbox One to help address issues and improve stability.”
As mentioned above, Red Dead Online on PS4 and Xbox One has been the most affected version and should see the best improvement.
Earlier this month, gamers were reporting problems with connecting to servers, staying online for longer than a few minutes and not being able to find legendary animals.
There were also issues with invincible NPCs, as well as accessing camps and other important areas.
In another statement, Rockstar Games revealed the full scope of the problem and confirmed that the most patches were supposed to improve connectivity to the game servers.
It reads: “An update to Red Dead Online intended to provide security improvements and address connection errors unintentionally introduced a range of issues including connection problems, low animal spawn counts, difficulty pitching Camps, entering Moonshine shacks as well as others on PS4 and Xbox One.
“We have reverted back to the previous version on those platforms, initially launched on July 28. This should address these recent issues and restore stability – meanwhile, we will continue to work to eliminate any remaining issues through future updates.”
So there’s a good chance that we will see more Red Dead Online updates released by Rockstar Games over the coming weeks.
Red Dead Online received one of its biggest content updates of 2020 a few weeks back following an extended dry period for fans.
Further patches are expected that will include additional content for gamers to enjoy but aren’t expected to be on the same scale.
The most significant change was the introduction of The Naturalist role, as well as allowing Red Dead Online gamers to track Legendary Animals, and wield new weapons.
“Track, hunt and study the wonders of the animal kingdom in Red Dead Online’s latest Frontier Pursuit, The Naturalist.
“Explore diverse locales, encounter majestic new Legendary Animals, and forge your own path as you choose whether to use these findings to learn new skills or bolster your resources and material gains.
“Accomplished conservationist Harriet Davenport is looking for adventurers with an affinity for wildlife to help her track down specimens and further her extensive knowledge of the animals of the five states. Pursue these fascinating creatures in the wild, then cautiously sedate them to obtain samples for Harriet and be equitably rewarded.
“At odds with Harriet’s mission to understand and preserve wildlife is the retired big game hunter Gus Macmillan, who will compensate you handsomely for your hunting skills.
“If your tastes favor fine clothing made from animal hides over the conservation of the natural world, Gus provides a wide range of options from the hauls you deliver. Be warned though, Harriet will take notice of your poaching activities if you try to play both sides of this quarrel.”
