Red Dead Redemption 2 UPDATE: Red Dead Online latest and Rockstar E3 news
New Red Dead Redemption 2 Online updates have been shared by Rockstar Games before the start of E3 2019.
These include new content changes for Red Dead Online on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as news on future plans.
And that’s not to mention the good news that has helped bolster the idea that Red Dead Redemption 2 is heading to PC.
Fans this week saw the release of new content on PS4 and Xbox One, including the special RailRoad Baron free roam event.
Fans can now ride the rails and capture as many train cars as they can, while also fighting to keep control of the active area on the train car for the longest amount of time.
This was probably one of the more exciting additions this week for Red Dead Online, with fans also able to claim a free Bellerose Hat for their wardrobe.
But this new content is nothing compared to what is being planned for later this year, with new career paths being added to the game.
These have been slated for Summer 2019, meaning they probably won’t drop next week during E3 2019.
But could there be other plans being put in place during the LA expo?
Rockstar Games don’t usually feature in the official E3 plans, they do launch content during it.
From what has been found online so far, this could point to new content being released in GTA 5 Online, rather than RDR2.
However, there’s always the chance that Rockstar Games have been saving up some big news to share in June for Red Dead fans as well.
It was just this week that the CEO of Take-Two Interactive – the parent company of Rockstar – share more comments on a PC port.
A new company briefing this week featured a question regarding the release of Red Dead 2 on PC being a “layup” for Take-Two.
An easy shot for the company to score with a game that’s multiplayer mode is getting stronger.
CEO Straus Zelnick responded by saying that “There is no downside to releasing the game on PC.”
There’s nothing concrete here to say that Rockstar or Take-Two are planning a big announcement this week.
But this at least suggests that a PC port could be on its way, albeit further down the road.
Plenty of news has been shared this week regarding Red Dead Online, although some of it proving more positive for PS4 gamers.
New monthly rewards for Red Dead Online players who have a PS Plus membership have been announced.
Xbox gamers will miss out as those on the PlayStation platform are provided with regular bonuses, starting this month.
Here’s more from Sony, who confirm: “Starting 10th June, all players with PlayStation Plus that play Red Dead Online by 8th July on PS4 will get three free treasure maps. The award will be sent to you within 24 hours of your first play session.
“Visit the Post Office or your Camp’s Lockbox to retrieve the treasure maps and then use your satchel to open them up.
“The treasure map will reveal a location on your map to explore, ride out to the area and use Eagle Eye to search for your rewards, which could include Gold Nuggets, Cash, Ammo, Tonics, and Crafting Pamphlets.”
PlayStation gamers can expect this to happen throughout 2019, with more rewards being promised for July 2019.
