RTX Series And RX 6800 Sold Out Within 10 Minutes Of Restock
Any hope that the arrival of AMD’s new Big Navi graphics cards might help keep next-gen GPUs in stock long enough to actually buy was seemingly dashed yesterday, at least for Newegg customers. After getting restocked with GeForce RTX 3070s, 3080s, and getting a limited quantity of the new Radeon RX 6800s, Newegg was sold out of everything roughly 10 minutes after making the announcements.
Popular online PC parts retailer Newegg tweeted out at 6:50 PM EST last night that they were about to get restocked with new graphics cards, including the brand new RX 6800. As reviews have shown, the RX 6800 is a worthy competitor to the RTX 3070, so it seems likely that anyone in the market for a new ray tracing-capable graphics card would take their pick of either the 3070 or RX 6800.
Unfortunately for gamers on the hunt for a new GPU, Newegg’s resupply was fairly limited. We counted roughly 10 minutes since the restock went live at 7:00 PM EST last night before we got “out of stock” alerts on Newegg’s website.
Although stock didn’t last long, some lucky souls did get their hands on a brand new graphics card. And on top of that, Newegg also alerted us to the new RTX 3060 Ti, which goes on sale everywhere this morning.
Nvidia’s latest video card aims to capture the budget gamer market with a target of ray tracing capable games displayed at 1440p. The design of the 3060Ti is almost the same as the 3070, and features Nvidia’s DLSS, Reflex, and Broadcast technologies. It also comes in at just $399, which is a very friendly price to get into next-gen gaming if you have no plans to upgrade to a 4K-capable screen.
Just as with next-gen consoles, stock shortages of next-gen graphics cards are expected to last until 2021 and only get worse as we head into the holidays. If you don’t want to spend your days hitting the refresh button for online retailers, maybe take a break until January. Cyberpunk will still be there waiting for you.
