Splinter Cell at E3 seems a shoe-in as replica goggles discovered online
News already leaked out last night about Watch Dogs Legion, but it seems Ubisoft may have another big name game to reveal next week.
For the last several years fans have been expecting, or at least hoping, that Ubisoft will reveal a new Splinter Cell game at E3, and it looks like 2019 might be the time it actually happens.
There certainly doesn’t seem much other explanation for why GameStop had a listing for replica Sam Fisher goggles up for a few hours and then mysteriously took it down again.
Apart from a quick cameo in DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Fisher hasn’t appeared in a game since 2013’s Blacklist so the idea that Ubisoft would just randomly make some expensive tie-in merchandise for no reason seems pretty unlikely.
There was also that weird tweet from a Ubisoft producer a couple of weeks ago, where they claimed they were working on a new Splinter Cell game and then later said they were only joking.
Ubisoft usually announces several games at E3, one of which has already been leaked as multiplayer-focused Roller Champions.
They’ll almost certainly have at least one other big name sequel though, with today’s leak of Watch Dogs Legion seeming to be legit. Whether they’ll have Splinter Cell as well remains to be seen, but the goggles do make it seem very likely.
All will hopefully be revealed at Ubisoft’s pre-E3 media briefing, which takes place on Monday, 10 June at 9pm BST.
