Square Enix news: Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo latest, Parasite Eve bonus release

Square Enix news begins today with the latest on the leaked Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo. Over Christmas the existence of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo leaked, which was revealed by website Gamstat. Gamstat lists PS Store listings before they officially go live, and also leaked the existence of the Resident Evil 3 remake.

The RE3 leak happened shortly before Capcom officially announced the title, so it was hoped this was a sign the FF7 demo was coming soon also.

But weeks after the initial leak Square Enix have still neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo.

Recently claims emerged online that would have got Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans worried.

In an article online GameSpot claimed that the Final Fantasy 7 Remade demo was launching on the same day as the full game.

That would have meant the FF7 demo wasn’t getting released ahead of the game’s March 3 2020 release date.

This would undoubtedly be hugely disappointing for fans hoping to get a taster of what the highly anticipated game is like before release.

But in a boost the Head of News at GameSpot has confirmed the article in question featured “an incorrect assumption”.

Tamoor Hussain revealed this when responding to tweeter Nibel who posted: “According to GameSpot, the Final Fantasy VII Remake demo will be released on March 3, the same day as the main game”.

Responding to the post Hussain said: “This was an incorrect assumption by one of our editors. The piece has been updated to reflect that.”

This will surely come as a boost to those who were disappointed at the prospect of not getting to play the FF7 demo before the game’s release.

The caveat to this, however, is it remains to be seen when exactly the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo will actually launch.

Square Enix may decide to launch the FF7 Remake demo this month to mark the 23 year anniversary of the original game’s launch in Japan.

Or they may still yet to decide to launch the demo late on.

In other Square Enix news Parasite Eve fans could be getting a surprise 2020 bonus release.

Recently Parasite Eve 2 celebrated its 20th birthday, with December 16 two decades since the game’s original release in Japan.

And this year, which will mark 20 years since the European and North American launches, fans will be getting an extra bonus.

In a post on Reddit it has been claimed that Parasite Eve fans will soon be able to order a new soundtrack vinyl.

The Redditor claims Binds on Pickup Productions are planning to open pre-orders on a Parasite Eve vinyl in March.

This is ahead of Diablo Hellfire vinyl pre-orders in January and Legend of Dragoon vinyl pre-orders in February.

Express.co.uk has contacted Binds on Pickup Productions to confirm whether a Parasite Eve vinyl release is on the cards.

In the meantime, you can check out the other vinyls the store offers by clicking here.
