Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay trailer released at E3 2019

Respawn has released the first gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at E3 2019.

During the EA Play livestream, Respawn’s CEO Vince Zampella and game director Stig Asmussen debuted 14 minutes of unedited gameplay footage from the title.

The gameplay itself takes place on Wookie planet Kashyyyk, and looks like a blend between Uncharted’s third-person traversal and combat mechanics inspired by From Software’s pantheon.

Along with facing Stormtroopers, players were also shown fights with huge spiders, using a mix of force powers and lightsaber finishing moves.

The closing moments of the trailer also revealed an encounter with a security droid who looks like K-2SO from Rogue One – but it’s unknown if it’s the same character. Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker in the same film, however, is Cal’s mentor.

They also confirmed there won’t be a choice between the light and the dark side, with players taken on one particular path through the story.

While it looks and sounds like Star Wars, it’s slightly disappointing how conventional it looks – but we’ll have to see if there’s more surprises when more details are released at Microsoft’s conference.

God Of War III director Stig Asmussen is one of the lead creators on the project, which is set shortly after the Jedi purge at the end of Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith.

You play as a young male Padawan named Cal Kestis (Gotham’s Cameron Monaghan) who is forced to hide out at the breakers’ yard in the mid-rim as he’s hunted by the Empire’s Inquisitors.

He’s joined by an adorable droid BD-1, and presumably more unknown Jedi fugitives.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on 15 November.
