Terminator Open World Survival Game In The Works At Nacon
Terminators just keep coming back, don't they? It's almost like it's their catchphrase or something. During the Nacon Connect presentation, the developer showcased a brief video featuring the iconic T-800 model. We didn't get a date, or even a name, but we do know that the project will be handled by Nacon Studio Milan.
"Just a tease for the future, but if you couldn’t tell, we’re big fans of '80s movies, and our team at Nacon Studio Milan is working on the first survival game set in the Terminator universe," said the description of the video. "We can’t say much more for now, but this is definitely something to keep your eyes on. Coming to PC & Consoles in the distant future."
The Nacon Studio Milan website had a lot more information about the game. "As revealed during Nacon Connect, we’re thrilled to announce that our next big project will be set in the world of Terminator, one of the world’s most popular and iconic film franchises," it says.
"The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world and features an original story that builds on the events of the official films. You play as a group of nuclear apocalypse survivors fighting to stay alive in a time period between Judgment Day and the creation of John Connor’s resistance."
We don't really know much about the events between Judgment Day and John Connor forming the resistance. Considering this will be a survival game, Nacon may perhaps take the franchise back to its roots as a horror title. Terminator 2, and everything after that, focussed on action, while the original had elements of horror in it – a killing machine that doesn't stop until its target is terminated. Unlike other Terminator games, you might have to flee from the machines instead of killing them.
Keeping with the trend of '80s action movies and machines, Nacon also revealed a gameplay trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City. From what we could glean from the trailer, it appears to be an open world game, set in Old Detroit. A neat little surprise for fans of the series – Peter Weller will reprise his role as Alex Murphy, a.k.a. RoboCop.
